There are around 170 species of honey eaters(birds) recorded in Australia. As the name suggests, most from this variety are nectar feeding birds. The Helmeted Honeyeater is endemic to Victoria, and is also the only bird species to be endemic to the state. For this reason, the Helmeted Honeyeater became Victoria's bird emblem in 1971.

Peppered Tree Frog, Oz-This very small frog measures up to 30 millimeters in length and can range from an olive green color to a gray and have small green to dark brown spots on its face.  The frog's underside is a  lighter cream color.  Like other tree frogs the peppered tree frog has large fingertips and toetips to help it climb. 

Nag Kuda is small tree native to Western Ghats, India,  growing up to 2-5 m tall.

Chironji Tree is a medium-sized tree, growing to about 50 ft tall. It bears fruits each cotaining a single seed, which is popular as an edible nut, known as chironji. It is common in Indian forests.

The Box Jellyfish (also known as a Sea Wasp) is a very dangerous creature to inhabit Australian waters. The Jellyfish has extreme toxins present on its tentacles. This jellyfish is responsible for more deaths in Australian than Snakes, Sharks and Salt Water Crocodiles.

The burrowing bettong is a nocturnal, vulnerable species. Both humans and predators are the main contributors to the decline of the burrowing bettong. The burrowing bettong resides in Australia and the islands of Barrow, Bernier, and Dorre. There are no natural predators on Barrow Island, but the population of burrowing bettongs on Barrow Island is about 5,000 animals, and this is the only secure population. “Boodie” and “Rat Kangaroo” are other common names for the burrowing bettong. There are efforts being made to bring the species onto the mainland of Australia.

Dusky hopping mice were once found in australia.Dusky-hopping mice are classified as “vulnerable” with a known population of less than 10,000 animals. This species was once a food source for the aborigines. The information on the habitat, behavior, distribution, and population is limited. There haven’t been many surveys on this species and there are currently no captive breeding efforts being made; few conservation efforts are being made.

70% of all Land Rovers ever made are estimated to still be on the road.

The eastern barred bandicoot is an Ozzie animal. The eastern barred bandicoot only survives in Victoria and Tasmania. There is more of a population in Tasmania, in Victoria the only known population can be found in the western basalt plains. Over one hundred years ago the eastern barred bandicoot lived in southern Australia. Unfortunately the last known sighting in that region was in 1893. Domestic animals such as cat and dogs have led to the endangerment of the eastern barred bandicoot as well as the clearing of the species natural habitat by humans. The eastern barred bandicoot is a nocturnal marsupial.

Kakkar is glorious tree found in India, cultivated for its attractive leaves, which are bright red when young. The tree grows up to 17 m or more tall.

The Brolga is a large crane. The body of the Brolga is grey, although it has a red head .They stand approximately 1.3 metres tall. Brolgas can be found across the tropical north, central New South Wales and Western Victoria. Spacious wetlands or expansive grassy plains are habitats of the Brolga.

Found from the coast of New South Wales to the Blue Mountains the Blue Mountains Tree Frog is a beautifully coloured frog.  With a base colour of medium brown it has a dark line from its nose to its stomach with a lighter line above it.  These frogs also have bright green spots on their head and limbs as well as orange and red marks on their arms and legs making them quite a sight to see.  They are wonderful jumpers and even great swimmers although they do not have webbed feet like other frogs.

The Cape Barren Goose is about the size of a regular goose, however with many obvious appearance differences. These birds are found along the southcoast of Australia. The Cape Barren Goose is one of the world's rarest geese.

Tasmanian Pademelons (animals similar to kangaroos) live in woodsy areas like rain forests close to open spaces where they can find food.  Since it is a nocturnal animal the Tasmanian Pademelon will hide and rest during the day and come out at night to feed on grass, small shrubs and seedlings. It is prey to the well known Tasmanian devil and some eagles.

The green tree frog has become popular over the recent years, with many people deciding to keep these as pets and being sold at pet stores. They are found throughout Queensland and go down as far as the top of South Australia. They live in trees or in rocky crevices, and close to a source of water. The males range in sizes from 65-75 mm and the females rang from 60-110 mm. They breed in the warmer months, between November and February and lay between 500-2000 eggs on the waters surface.


A mother hen turns over her egg about 50 times each day.

The genus name Alangium comes from the Tamil name Alangi. This outstanding shrub can become a small, wide-spreading tree of considerable beauty at maturity.

The ghost bat is present in Northern Australia, Western Australia, Queensland, and the Northern Territory. Ghost bats are classified as “vulnerable” due to the destruction of caves, human disturbance by visiting roosts in caves, and the loss of prey (which is due to a loss of they prey’s habitat). It is estimated that there are only 5,000 ghost bats left. The common name “ghost bat” is attributed to the bat’s white appearance when looking as it flies over head. Natural predators of the ghost bat are few. Ghost bats can be heard making excited twittering noises.

Queen termites are the longest living insects. They can live for 50 years.

The Green Sea Turtle is found in Australian waters. In fact, there are only seven species of marine turtles in the world, and six of these are found in Australian waters. 

The average housefly lives for about one month.

Ashok tree  is native to India and Srilanka. Glossy green, long, narrow leaves have attractive wavy edges.  This tree has graceful, widespread pranches.

 The largest native Australian worm is the giant Gippsland earthworm.  It normally has a length of about 2 to 3 meters, (6.5 to 10 feet),  however the longest worm on record was 4 m, (13 feet), long.  Their skin is a pinkish-gray color and the head is a deep purple.  They live underground in red, gray or blue clay under banks of streams. They need water to live so they never really leave their moist underground maze.  If you stomp the ground above them you will be able to hear a gurgling sound coming from under you. 

A hen must eat about 4 pounds to produce 12 eggs.1

The Ornamental snake, Queensland, OZ.This poisonous snake is a member of the cobra family. It grows to be about 50 centimeters, (20 inches), long and has a light coloured body with dark streaks or flecks, barred lips, and a white or cream belly.
